Audition for 'Scousers' aged 60 and over wanted for BBC4 programme
BBC4 are looking for 'scousers' aged 60 and over for a half-hour programme dedicated to 'Old Scousers Telling Jokes'!
Following on from the successful American series Old Jews Telling Jokes, this year the BBC is making four episodes, with one half hour programme dedicated to Old Scousers Telling Jokes.
In case you haven't seen Old Jews Telling Jokes, the programmes do exactly what they say on the tin, and like all simple ideas, it works. Members of the public stand up and tell their favourite jokes. You can read more, and watch some clips, on the Old Jews Telling Jokes programme page.
It was decided that no joke teller could be younger than 60 years old. A lifetime of experience was needed to infuse these jokes!
BBC4 are arranging a filming day in Liverpool around mid-August for people to come along and tell them their favourite gags. You won't have to get up on stage and entertain a crowd; it will just be a few of BBC4 folk and a camera.
The evening should be a lot of fun, so if you know a few jokes please get in touch.
The only criteria is that joke-tellers must be over 60, with a good sense of humour, and from the Liverpool area.
