Preparing a CV

Preparing a CV for the entertainment industry isn't like putting together a CV for a job in an office!

Make sure your CV is up-to-date - there's nothing worse than presenting a CV at an audition that has the wrong age on it!

Casting agents, producers and the like aren't generally that interested in how well you did at school or whether you have a degree in Animal Psychology! Of course, if you're auditioning to take over from Carol Vorderman in Countdown (will she ever retire?!) then perhaps highlighting your degree in applied mathematics may help!! So - just put a few notes about educational experience.

List your experience by category rather than by date - musical, modelling, dancing, etc - give details of experience and the year it was gained.

Model your CV around the opportunity it's being submitted for. If you're hoping to audition to be a member of a dance troupe then make sure that dance experience is at the top of the list!

Make sure you list your skills clearly and concisely, and remember that things like a driving licence, motorcycle licence, advanced skateboarding certificate, juggling, acrobatics are ALL skills!
